Camino de Santiago.
I´ve decided to do the Camino de Santiago in 2010.
I was saving it for 2009, but I just heard that 2010 is the año jacobeo, which is special cos 25 July falls on a Sunday. Many more people will be doing it that year, as well, so I´m likely to bump into more people along the way, & although for me it is better to have a solitary pilgramage, it won´t hurt to stop & talk & have a drink with some folk who might provide a little insight into the journey at foot.
I´ve also made a decision to read the Catechism of the Catholic Church this year. No hurry, it´s long & I´ve got a long time to do it. I remember my father read it over years & years. I think I´ll give myself until 31 December.
After this great feat, I´ll start asking around to find that one convent the priest who dealed with my confession recommended for preparation for the First Communion& such. They will supposedly give me classes & talk to me about stuff. That´s gonna be really great.
But throughout all this, I´m going to keep reading about Catholocism & research the camino intensively. I know why I´m going on it (which has absolutely nothing to do with tourism & it offends me that people do this for that superficial reason), but I want to know more reasons why I should, as well.
This is all something I will write at length about, probably on paper. It´s something intensely personal, has so much to do with so much, & I couldn´t explain it right now in any language no matter how hard I tried. I´ll be updating on my findings every now & then, probably.
I´m very excited about this pre-journey journey.
